Dreyfus Building

  • 2008 AIA /RI Merit Award
  • 2008 State of Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission Award
  • 2007 Providence Preservation Society Adaptive Reuse/Neighborhood Revitalization Award

AS220 at the Dreyfus is a superb historic
restoration of an 1890's boarding house that expanded to become a hotel
and then became a dorm and is now a thriving mixed-used complex
anchored by the arts. Today, on the upper floors, this turn of the
century building provides live and work studios for over 30 artists; and
a community print studio that has over 200 users. On the first floor is
an exquisite period dining room and bar that represents one of the most
intact 19th century interiors in all of downtown Providence! And then
there is the AS220 Project Space, an intimate gallery that showcases the
work of more than 25 artists each year.
