University of Rhode Island Butterfield Hall Renovations and Addition

The University of Rhode Island Kingson Campus decided to completely gut and renovate the existing 6,000 square foot Butterfield Dining Hall as well as a 10,000 square foot addition. The combined space included the dining room and servery on the main level and a student lounge on the upper level leading to an outdoor roof deck space. The enlarged, updated dining hall with 560 seats and a lounge space for academic and social activities re-opened in time for the start of the Fall 2015 semester . The 10 million dollar construction project achieved the University's goal to align the old Butterfield Dining Hall with the newer Hope Dining Hall in terms of both student appeal and capacity.
